Gender Diversity is when humans of all genders are treated equally at work environment with a balanced workforce at all levels. In simpler words, a workplace where talent irrespective of gender is hired and promoted at the same rate, as well as paid equally for the same kind of work.

Gender diversity is important. Ensuring equality of women in the workplace can have a positive impact across an entire organization. Women may be getting more degrees than men since long, but they remain underrepresented at every level in the corporate world.

Benefits of Gender Diversity at Workplace: –

Talent Pool:

Ensuring having a good mixture of male and female in the organization, benefits everyone with different point of views, ideas, thinking and thereby increases the level of creativity and innovation. Having both women and men in one’s team acts as a perk in different approaches that comes from different life experiences.

Increased Financial Returns:

Greater employee engagement, performance, and increased productivity that comes with workplace gender diversity results in an increase in financial returns for an organization.

Improved staff retention:

Having this culture at work boosts morale and opportunity. Inclusive workplaces tend to have lower employee attrition rates – which represents big savings in terms of time and money spent on recruitment. To engage and retain the potential talent to a wider range, one needs to eradicate the pay differences arising due to gender diversity for the same role or position.

Equal reserved seats for women in a boardroom meeting:

The higher they’re going; a lot of women realize themselves alone within the room, which typically makes them feel isolated. Organizations need to promote more women at higher positions or levels and should avoid having lesser women in the boardroom because it truly depicts the gender inequality at the higher position. They need to examine and explore how they can empower women at higher levels.

Encourage respectful culture:

It has been observed that mostly women face the disrespectful behaviour as compared to men. If things need to change, then it can’t just be about driving the culture and values of the organization rather, also highlighting and communicating that there is no room for sexual harassment, disrespect, or bias, and when needed, stringent action will be taken.

Flexible working environment:

Flexible working environment can play a vital role in keeping a smooth and progressive career path for women with children. By providing access to flexible working options, organizations are much more likely to retain more experienced women eligible for senior positions, preventing discrimination against women.

Gender diversity is not one individual’s responsibility, it’s an issue that every employee of the organization needs to take it as an accountability and then only more promising results will be seen.

To ensure this, organizations must promote a culture that embraces gender diversity where leaders should take charge of this mission. Positive change is most likely to happen when it is promoted from the top and so even senior officials should be encouraged for promoting gender diversity at work. Eventually, all organizations need to monitor their success regularly in achieving these goals.
