smart smarTians

Lockdown brought smarTians face to face with the unknown. The way operations have continued for over 100 days is a testimony to precise planning, continuous monitoring, and exemplary hard work and dedication towards work and the associated livelihood. Video conferencing has helped. The water cooler talks have been replaced with virtual settings. There have been numerous talk sessions and video conferences for the last three months. The calls have been both formal settings to discuss work and informal off work conversations. This has been a great way of conversing with people and knowing how they are doing in these heightened state of anxiety due to pandemic & offering help and support and solace in any way possible. Some of the continued efforts by the different group which requires mention are given below :-

Strengthening Communication at the Core: A Transformative Session on “Effective Communication and Active Listening”

On 18th June 2025, smartData Enterprises (I) Ltd. conducted an impactful session focused on Effective Communication and Active Listening, facilitated by Col. Munish Bhanot, Senior Director – Operations. The session took place at the Convention Hall, K Tower, and brought together professionals from various verticals for a reflective and engaging learning experience.

Communication is more than just the exchange of information. In a high-performance environment like smartData, it is the foundation on which trust, collaboration, leadership, and execution are built. This session was designed to explore that very foundation — and to help participants understand how communication, when coupled with active listening, can transform relationships, improve teamwork, and elevate organizational outcomes.

Col. Bhanot, with his vast leadership background and practical wisdom, delivered the session in a manner that was both thought-provoking and relatable. Rather than taking a theoretical approach, he focused on real-time workplace challenges and demonstrated how communication gaps often stem from a lack of conscious listening or unclear messaging. His examples drew from both corporate and leadership scenarios, offering depth to the discussion and encouraging participants to assess their own styles and behaviours.

The session emphasized the power of listening — not just to respond, but to truly understand. Participants explored the difference between passive hearing and active engagement, the importance of body language and tone, and how conscious communication can lead to greater clarity, productivity, and empathy within teams.

What made the session truly impactful was its interactive nature. Participants were encouraged to take part in exercises, scenarios, and group discussions, which helped translate learning into practical insights. These activities not only kept the room energized but also allowed individuals to reflect on their communication patterns and commit to intentional improvement.

At smartData, sessions like these are part of a broader commitment to building a workplace culture where people feel heard, valued, and supported. While technology, process, and innovation remain at the core of our business, it is the people and how they communicate that determine long-term success.

The Effective Communication and Active Listening session was more than a learning event. It was a space to pause, reflect, and recharge the very skills that help us connect — not just as professionals, but as team members, leaders, and collaborators. With continuous focus on holistic development, smartData remains dedicated to cultivating skills that empower its people to lead with clarity, engage with purpose, and contribute meaningfully in every interaction.

Healthy Bones Awareness Session Conducted at smartData Mohali

Well-being at work goes beyond snacks and standing desks. It’s about understanding our bodies, catching the small signs early, and making better choices every day.

We recently hosted a Healthy Bones session at our Mohali office with Fortis Healthcare. The idea was simple: help our team learn about something most of us don’t think about until much later – our bones.

The session was led by a senior orthopaedic doctor who broke it down in a way that felt relevant. We spoke about posture, movement, nutrition, and the slow ways our everyday habits affect our strength and mobility. It wasn’t a lecture – it felt more like a much-needed conversation.

What really stood out was the energy in the room. Our team asked sharp, thoughtful questions. Things like how to improve bone health while working a desk job, how much sunlight we actually need, and whether supplements are enough. The answers were practical. Small changes, easy to start right away.

Calcium, vitamin D, regular movement, better sitting habits – nothing dramatic, just everyday awareness.

These sessions matter. They remind us to look up from the screens, stretch a little, walk more, check in with ourselves. And that’s the kind of culture we’re building – one where health isn’t a side note, but something we act on together.

More of this coming soon.

The Grand Finale of smartData Cultural League (SCL) Mohali – SPANDAN 2025

On the evening of 13th June 2025, the Mohali Head Office premises of smartData Enterprises (I) Ltd. came alive with colour, music, and joy as it hosted the Grand Finale of the smartData Cultural League – SPANDAN 2025. What unfolded wasn’t just a cultural event — it was an expression of everything smartData stands for: people, passion, and shared purpose.

The anticipation was visible on every face as teams gathered under one roof, joined by their families and senior leadership, including the CEO India. It was more than just a finale — it was the culmination of weeks of excitement, preparation, and heart. From the very first performance, the energy in the room was infectious. Cheers, applause, and wide smiles set the tone for a night that promised to be unforgettable — and it was.

What made the evening truly special was the incredible variety of performances that unfolded on stage. Every act told a story. Whether it was a heartfelt solo, a spirited group dance, a playful skit, or a touching instrumental, each performance reflected the personality, culture, and creativity of the people behind it. From Himachali Natti to Punjabi Bhangra, from laughter-filled plays to soul-stirring music, it was a celebration of heritage, talent, and individuality — all tied together with a shared sense of belonging.

One of the most heartwarming parts of the evening was seeing families and children of smartData employees actively participate and cheer from the audience. Their involvement brought a beautiful sense of togetherness, reinforcing the belief that smartData is more than just a workplace — it’s a close-knit community. It reminded everyone that behind every professional is a family that supports, celebrates, and contributes to our journey.

As the event reached its high point, the announcement of the winners brought with it a wave of excitement and pride. Trophies and medals were handed out, but more importantly, so were moments of recognition — for talent, for courage, for showing up and shining. The cheers, the hugs, the claps — they spoke of a culture where every effort is valued and every voice has a place.

Behind the scenes, a dedicated team worked tirelessly to ensure that every detail came together seamlessly. The organizers, volunteers, hosts, and support teams gave their all, and it showed in the flawless execution of the evening. Their efforts were a true reflection of the collaboration and ownership that define smartData’s way of working.

As the final curtain drew to a close, the hall slowly transitioned into a space of conversation and connection. Over refreshments and shared laughter, colleagues, friends, and families took the time to reflect, reconnect, and celebrate the moments they had just experienced together.

SPANDAN 2025 wasn’t just about performances or prizes. It was about bringing people together. It was about celebrating who we are beyond our roles and responsibilities. It was a reminder that in the midst of our work, there is room — and real need — for joy, creativity, and connection.

The evening left behind more than just applause and photographs. It left behind a renewed sense of unity, pride, and the simple truth that at smartData, people always come first. It’s this culture of celebration, support, and shared growth that continues to make smartData not just a great place to work, but a place to belong.

Enhancing Professional Excellence through Emotional Intelligence

In a continued pursuit of fostering leadership readiness, emotional wellness, and a collaborative work culture, smartData Enterprises conducted a focused employee development session on “Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace” at its Mohali Head Office. This initiative reflects smartData’s strategic commitment to strengthening human-centric competencies across its vibrant and evolving workforce.

The session brought together professionals from multiple departments to explore the powerful role Emotional Intelligence (EI) plays in the modern workplace. As a key enabler of performance and adaptability, Emotional Intelligence influences how individuals lead, communicate, collaborate, and navigate professional challenges. At smartData, this skill is considered essential for driving personal effectiveness and building high-impact teams.

Facilitated by Mr. Ashish Chaubey, the session offered participants a comprehensive understanding of the five core components of EI: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. The discussion emphasized the real-time application of these attributes in managing conflict, leading with empathy, making thoughtful decisions, and fostering trust within teams. Engaging and practical in its delivery, the session inspired meaningful reflection on how emotional mastery translates to stronger professional relationships and more resilient leadership.

Over 50 team members participated in the learning experience, representing a broad spectrum of roles and career stages. This cross-functional involvement highlighted smartData’s inclusive approach to talent development, where every individual is encouraged to grow beyond technical proficiency and invest in emotional and interpersonal growth.

smartData’s culture is deeply rooted in continuous learning, employee wellness, and people-first values. The Emotional Intelligence session was a perfect embodiment of this philosophy. It reinforced the importance of leading with compassion, listening actively, and responding mindfully in dynamic work environments.

More than just a knowledge-sharing event, the session marked a step toward shaping a workforce that is emotionally aware, future-ready, and equipped to drive lasting impact. At smartData, professional excellence is measured not only by skills but also by the ability to connect, empathize, and grow as a cohesive unit.

As part of our ongoing employee development programs, initiatives like these continue to promote a workplace culture that thrives on authenticity, emotional balance, and collaborative spirit. smartData remains committed to building leaders who inspire with purpose and lead with emotional intelligence.

Spandan 2025 – The Grand Semi-Finale of smartData Cultural League (SCL)

Every workplace has its own rhythm. At smartData, that rhythm comes alive through Spandan. It’s a celebration of talent, emotion, and sheer joy.

On 30th May, our Mohali development centre lit up with colour, music and energy for the Semi-Finale of the smartData Cultural League 2025. The atmosphere was electric. Teammates, families, senior leaders, and even our Managing Director and CEI (India) came together to enjoy an evening that felt more like a festival than an office event.

The performances weren’t just about entertainment. They told stories. They made us laugh, gave us goosebumps, and reminded us how much personality exists beyond our job titles. We saw everything: soulful singing, high-energy group dances, powerful instrumentals, and skits that blended drama, humour and creativity. The stage belonged to the performers, but the entire room felt part of the moment.

With each act, there was something unexpected. Surprise entries, unexpected duets, new takes on old traditions. The cheers, the applause, the support from colleagues and family created a space that felt warm and alive. This is what we value most – not just talent, but encouragement, empathy and shared pride.

One of the most beautiful parts of the evening was the cultural richness on display. From Bhangra and Gidda to Himachali Natti, each performance gave a glimpse into the traditions we carry with us. The dhol beats, the vibrant outfits, the swirl of colours on stage – it all came together to remind us how diversity isn’t just something we mention in brochures. We live it, dance it, and celebrate it.

What made the night even more special was the presence of our families. Children performed with their parents, spouses joined in, and every act was filled with genuine love and joy. These weren’t just performances, they were memories in the making. At smartData, we don’t see families as separate from our work life. They’re part of our journey, and Spandan was a beautiful way to honour that.

This wasn’t just a fun break from routine. Spandan reflects who we are at our core. It captures our belief in taking time to celebrate, laugh and connect. Even while we push boundaries in tech and innovation, we also make space to pause and enjoy the ride.

Events like these go beyond performance. They build trust, spark friendships, and help people open up in ways that regular meetings and reviews never could. They bring out hidden talents, break silos, and strengthen the feeling that we’re all building something meaningful, together.

Spandan 2025 reminded us what happens when people are given a stage, not just to perform, but to be seen and appreciated. The dedication, the effort, the support across teams – it all reflected the spirit that drives us forward.

As the curtains came down and the claps echoed through the hall, one thing felt clear. This was a shared experience full of joy, warmth, and pride. A reminder that while we build tech for the future, we also build a culture that’s deeply human.

With every celebration like Spandan, smartData grows into a place that’s more connected, more expressive, and more real. A place where people matter, where culture is felt, and where every moment – whether on stage or off it – adds to a journey we’re proud to be part of.

When Visionaries Run: smartData’s Defining Moment at Punjab Half Marathon 2025

The Punjab Half Marathon this year was more than just a sporting event for us at smartData. It became a moment of pride and reflection when Mr. Ajay Tewari, our Managing Director & Global CEO, and Miss Aparna took part in the run. Their participation stood for something important — a reminder that taking care of our health and staying active is a choice we can make at any stage of life or leadership.

They didn’t come to make a statement, but their presence spoke volumes. It showed what it means to lead by example, especially in a world that’s constantly chasing deadlines, targets, and numbers. Sometimes, the most impactful thing a leader can do is step out of routine and show what real balance looks like: choosing to engage in something that benefits both the body and the mind.

This run was also closely connected to the values behind #CFG – Community Fitness Green Mantra – and the broader Fit India initiative. At its core, both efforts promote a lifestyle that prioritizes wellness, environmental awareness, and long-term thinking. These are values we talk about often at smartData, and it was powerful to see them reflected in action.

As the event went on, the atmosphere was full of quiet determination. There was no spotlight or ceremony — just people moving forward, step by step. In that setting, seeing two of our own push through the distance reminded us that consistency and effort matter far more than titles or positions.

This moment reinforced something we deeply believe in: the health and well-being of individuals directly shapes the strength of teams and companies. It’s not a nice-to-have. It’s a core part of how we grow, support each other, and build a better future.

We’re proud of Mr. Tewari and Miss Aparna for taking part in the marathon and for reminding us what it means to stay committed. Not just to our goals, but to the kind of people we want to be while achieving them.

Take care of your body, support your community, and don’t wait for the perfect moment to begin.

The energy was electric, the music was loud, and the smiles were everywhere. On Friday, 25th April 2025, the lawns of our KTower, Mohali office transformed into a celebration zone as Red FM joined smartData for an unforgettable “Pause for Fun” experience.

What began as an ordinary Friday morning quickly turned into a high-spirited event that blended the rhythm of music, the thrill of games, and the magic of pure enjoyment. As part of our ongoing Fun at Work initiative, this celebration was designed to infuse energy into the workplace and give smarTians a well-deserved break from their daily routines. And it did just that—loudly, proudly, and joyfully.

From the moment Red FM’s lively RJs took the stage, the atmosphere lit up. Their humor, charm, and effortless crowd engagement brought instant excitement, pulling everyone into the moment. Employees gathered with anticipation, ready to embrace every bit of fun. The event featured live RJ interaction, upbeat music, spontaneous dance moves, cricket-themed quiz contests, and exciting giveaways. The laughter was contagious, the competition friendly, and the enthusiasm unstoppable.
But it wasn’t just about entertainment. It was about connection—creating space for colleagues to bond, celebrate, and simply enjoy being part of something bigger than work. The Canteen Side Lawn turned into a shared playground for creativity, energy, and team spirit. Employees stepped away from their desks, let their hair down, and recharged in the best way possible: together.

At smartData, we believe a great culture is built on balance—between performance and pause, goals and gratitude, deliverables and delight. This Fun Friday event reaffirmed our belief that even the shortest breaks can leave a lasting impact when filled with joy, laughter, and collective celebration.

A big thank you to the incredible Red FM team for bringing their signature vibe to our campus and to all our smarTians who showed up with their energy, smiles, and full hearts. This was more than an event—it was a reminder of what makes our workplace truly special.

smartData Hosts Transformational Leadership Session: “Courage to Evolve”

Today at smartData Enterprises, we reinforced our unwavering commitment to leadership excellence and continuous learning by successfully conducting a high-impact internal session titled “Courage to Evolve: Turning Challenges into Opportunities.” Held at our Mohali office, this session formed a significant part of our Internal Skills Development Program and was aimed at fostering strategic thinking and adaptive leadership across the organization.

Led by distinguished leadership coach Ms. Manjula Sularia, the session engaged selected team members in a powerful conversation around embracing change, leading with clarity during uncertainty, and turning professional challenges into stepping stones for growth. Participants explored practical frameworks to build emotional resilience, inspire confidence within their teams, and unlock creative problem-solving during periods of transition.

At smartData, we understand that true leadership is tested not in times of stability, but in how one navigates ambiguity and change. Through this session, we aimed to empower our emerging and existing leaders with the tools and mindset required to thrive in today’s dynamic business landscape. The conversation centered on developing a forward-thinking approach, one that blends empathy with execution and vision with action.

We thank Ms. Sularia for her valuable insights and extend our appreciation to all participating smarTians for their active involvement and commitment to growth. As we continue on our journey of transformation, we remain focused on cultivating leaders who not only adapt to the future but help define it.
