smart smarTians

Lockdown brought smarTians face to face with the unknown. The way operations have continued for over 100 days is a testimony to precise planning, continuous monitoring, and exemplary hard work and dedication towards work and the associated livelihood. Video conferencing has helped. The water cooler talks have been replaced with virtual settings. There have been numerous talk sessions and video conferences for the last three months. The calls have been both formal settings to discuss work and informal off work conversations. This has been a great way of conversing with people and knowing how they are doing in these heightened state of anxiety due to pandemic & offering help and support and solace in any way possible. Some of the continued efforts by the different group which requires mention are given below :-

smarTians Shine in TCS Fit for Life Walkathon

At smartData, we’ve always believed that staying active isn’t just good for the body — it does wonders for the mind and overall well-being too. That’s why the recent participation of our team in the TCS Fit for Life Walkathon felt like more than just a fitness event. It was a reflection of our ongoing commitment to health, energy, and community.

smarTians came together to take on both the 5km and 10km challenges with enthusiasm and drive. Whether they were experienced walkers or just getting started, what stood out was the shared determination and the sense of fun that carried everyone through the miles.

The Walkathon wasn’t just about crossing a distance. It was about encouraging one another, showing up as a team, and turning a personal goal into a collective win. There were moments of focus, plenty of laughs, and that feeling of satisfaction that comes from finishing something meaningful.

We’re proud of everyone who participated. Their effort speaks to the culture we’re building: one where health and balance matter, and where support and teamwork go hand in hand with personal growth.

Here’s to keeping that spirit alive, and to finding more opportunities that bring us together in movement and motivation. At the end of the day, at smartData, fitness is a part of how we show up for ourselves and for each other.

smartData at the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025

The morning of 19 January 2025 was full of energy, excitement, and quiet determination as the Tata Mumbai Marathon brought together runners from all walks of life. Among them were four proud smarTians, representing smartData Enterprises with purpose, grit, and a deep belief in the values we stand for.

Leading the charge was our MD & Global CEO, Mr Ajay Tewari, whose enthusiasm and drive continue to set the tone for the entire organisation. Alongside him, Vivek Sharma, Mohinder Singh, and Shashi Bhushan took on the full 42-kilometre challenge — a powerful display of stamina, teamwork, and resilience. Navigating the unpredictable Mumbai weather and the intensity of the route, each of them showed what it means to stay focused, push through, and finish strong.

But for us, this marathon reflected something bigger — our ongoing commitment to community, fitness, and green living. These values aren’t just a tagline at smartData. They show up in how we work, how we lead, and how we show up for ourselves and each other.

This was the third year smartData took part in the Tata Mumbai Marathon, and each time it’s served as a reminder of the balance we strive for, the one between personal well-being and professional growth. The marathon brought that balance to life. It showed how physical endurance, mental focus, and a shared vision can come together to create something truly meaningful.

We’re proud of our team, not just for the kilometres they covered, but for the mindset they brought with them. Their presence on that track, alongside thousands of others, was a reminder that every effort counts, and that progress — in health, in work, in life — is built one step at a time.

As we look back on this achievement, we hope it inspires all of us to keep moving forward — to take on challenges, stay active, and continue living with purpose. The finish line in Mumbai wasn’t the end of anything. It was the start of more. More goals. More grit. And more moments that remind us why we do what we do.

Here’s to the team, the journey, and to many more milestones ahead.

Celebrating Makarsankranti with High Spirits and Higher Kites at smartData Nagpur

We know that great work doesn’t just come from deadlines and dedication. It also comes from a culture where people feel connected, inspired, and energised. That spirit came to life on 14 January 2025, when our Nagpur office celebrated Makarsankranti with a colourful, laughter-filled kite flying competition in our Vatika garden.

With kites in hand and smiles all around, colleagues gathered on the lawn, ready for a bit of friendly competition and a lot of fun. The day wasn’t just about flying kites — it was about stepping away from the everyday routine, spending time together, and creating memories that strengthen the bonds we share at work.

As kites soared into the sky, so did the energy. Every successful lift-off, every playful challenge, every moment of cheering from the sidelines brought people together in a way that felt effortless and authentic. There was joy, a bit of rivalry, and plenty of light-hearted banter — the kind of interaction that reminds us why culture matters as much as strategy.

The celebration also came with a taste of tradition. Everyone enjoyed seasonal favourites like tilgul, chikki, and pithla bhakri, treats that brought a bit of home into the workplace. Sharing food, like flying kites, created a simple but meaningful sense of connection across teams.

Makarsankranti at smartData was a moment to pause, recharge, and celebrate who we are as a team — one that works hard, supports one another, and knows how to enjoy the journey along the way.

As we look ahead, we carry this spirit with us. Because when we take time to celebrate and connect, we’re not just building a better workplace, we’re building a stronger, more vibrant team.

Here’s to more days like this, and to flying even higher together.

Lohri 2025: A Celebration of Culture, Unity and Festive Spirit

Lohri 2025 at smartData was a celebration that brought joy, connection and a strong sense of tradition to our Mohali and Dehradun offices. From the moment preparations began, the energy across teams was undeniable.

As the day unfolded, the atmosphere transformed. Offices lit up with bright colours and traditional décor, while smarTians arrived in their finest ethnic wear, bringing vibrance and charm to the celebration. Conversations flowed, and a sense of excitement built up as everyone looked forward to the main events. The entire space buzzed with anticipation, reminding us why these cultural moments matter so much in our work life.

One of the most memorable parts of the day was the traditional bonfire. Rather than simply watching from the sidelines, smarTians gathered around, singing folk songs, clapping along to the beat of the dhol, and joining in the dance. Bhangra and giddha performances added life to the celebration, turning it into a moment that felt alive and shared by all. The energy in the air came not just from the music and movement, but from the genuine joy of being present, together.

The celebration continued with a delicious spread of traditional Lohri treats. Everyone came together to enjoy makki di roti, sarson da saag, rewari, gajak and til ke laddoo. The aroma of freshly roasted peanuts and popcorn filled the air, adding to the festive atmosphere. Eating together gave people a chance to slow down, connect with colleagues, and enjoy the moment without distraction.

Throughout the day, there were also plenty of opportunities to play, compete and laugh. Kite flying added a splash of colour to the skies, while tug-of-war and dance-offs sparked friendly competition. The cheers of teammates and the joy on people’s faces made it clear that this was more than just entertainment—it was a celebration of unity, effort and shared fun. Even the prize-giving brought a lighthearted thrill, but the day’s real reward came from the connections it deepened.

What made Lohri 2025 stand out was how naturally it reflected the culture we’ve built at smartData. It reminded us that while we work hard, we also take time to celebrate each other and the journey we’re on together. The festival created space to pause, recharge and appreciate the people around us.

As the evening drew to a close, everyone left not only with memories of music, colour and food, but also with a renewed sense of connection. It was a reminder that success isn’t just about targets or timelines. It’s also about the moments we create, the relationships we build, and the pride we feel in being part of a team that truly values its people.

Lohri gave us a chance to celebrate everything we stand for: culture, community and shared joy. And that’s something worth carrying with us into every day that follows.

Christmas Cheer at smartData

On 24 December 2024, smartData offices in Mohali, Nagpur, and Dehradun transformed into cheerful, festive spaces. From the moment smarTians walked in, the Christmas spirit was hard to miss. Red and white outfits filled the rooms, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere across all locations. This simple gesture did more than follow a dress code — it reflected our unity and shared excitement for the season.

The Secret Santa Surprise
One of the most loved traditions returned with full enthusiasm. The Secret Santa gift exchange brought smiles, laughter, and a sense of playful mystery. Colleagues picked thoughtful presents, wrapped them with care, and waited to see who had drawn their name. As the gifts were unwrapped, reactions ranged from surprise to laughter, sparking conversations and bringing people closer.

Decorations and Details
The festive mood carried through in every detail. Twinkling lights, handcrafted ornaments, and decorated corners showed the creativity of our teams. Each office looked different, but every space reflected the same feeling — a collective effort to create something joyful for everyone to enjoy. It wasn’t just about how the office looked, but how it made people feel.

Moments That Mattered
Beyond the gifts and décor, the day gave everyone a chance to pause and enjoy. smarTians shared treats, joined in fun activities, and made time for the kind of conversations that don’t always happen during a busy week. These lighter moments reminded us how important it is to connect beyond work.

Carrying the Spirit Forward
As the day came to a close, we carried more than just our Secret Santa gifts home. We left with shared memories, renewed energy, and a deeper sense of belonging. The celebration showed once again that while we work hard, we also make time to celebrate each other — and that’s what makes smartData truly special.

Let’s take this energy into the new year and keep creating moments that matter, together.

Shining a Light on Blind Lives: smartData’s Empowering Support for Silver Linings

At smartData Enterprises, we believe that true impact is measured not just by business success, but by the positive change we create in the world around us. Our partnership with Silver Linings, a not-for-profit organization founded by Preeti Monga, is a testament to this belief. Silver Linings has been a transformative force in the lives of thousands of individuals, particularly focusing on empowering blind children and women, reducing preventable blindness, and promoting inclusion in mainstream society. Since its establishment in 2006, Silver Linings has been instrumental in breaking societal barriers and creating opportunities for those living with visual impairments.

At smartData, we are proud to support Silver Linings in their mission of fostering independence, education, and empowerment for the blind community. Through our contributions, we are supporting key initiatives that directly benefit individuals who often face overwhelming challenges due to their disability. One of our key focus areas is ensuring the provision of safe, secure hostel facilities for blind girls and women, where they are given a nurturing environment along with the necessary training to thrive in society. These facilities are not just about providing shelter—they offer a space where dignity, confidence, and self-worth are nurtured, helping these individuals become independent, skilled, and productive members of society.

We are also deeply invested in ensuring that all the students and trainees at Silver Linings achieve financial, personal, and social self-dependence. Through our support, we are helping create pathways that lead to long-term independence, both in terms of professional growth and social inclusion. We strongly believe that empowering individuals with the right skills and opportunities can transform their lives and the communities around them, and we are proud to play a part in this process.

Our contributions further extend to the integration of visually impaired children into mainstream schools. Education is the cornerstone of empowerment, and by supporting initiatives that provide inclusive education, we are opening doors to a brighter future for these children. Every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, and at smartData, we are committed to helping create an inclusive educational environment for visually impaired students.

One of the most pressing issues facing the blind community is preventable blindness, and smartData is proud to assist in cornea retrieval programs that aim to reduce the incidence of curable and preventable corneal blindness. By supporting this initiative, we are not just restoring sight to those in need but also offering them the chance to live fuller, more fulfilling lives.

Beyond education and healthcare, smartData is also working to create employment opportunities for people with disabilities, particularly in the private and corporate sectors. We believe that businesses benefit immensely from diverse teams, and by facilitating employment for people with disabilities, we are helping to create a more inclusive, equitable workforce. We are proud to help create career paths that enable individuals with disabilities to contribute meaningfully to society.

Our support also focuses on empowering visually impaired women to break free from societal barriers and succeed in mainstream society. By nurturing their growth and development, we are helping to dismantle long-standing stereotypes and ensure that these women have every opportunity to succeed professionally and personally. Furthermore, we recognize the emotional and psychological toll that transitioning to a new way of life can take. To address this, we are helping provide trauma counselling for newly disabled persons, offering the necessary support to help them rebuild their lives with confidence and strength.

Through our partnership with Silver Linings, we are not just contributing to a cause—we are investing in a future where people with disabilities are empowered, included, and given the tools they need to succeed. Our collaboration is helping create a society where blind individuals, regardless of their challenges, are empowered to contribute to their communities and live lives full of purpose, dignity, and opportunity. Together, with Preeti Monga and Silver Linings, smartData is committed to creating a world where everyone, regardless of their abilities, has the chance to shine.
