“The Best Way To Predict The Future Is To Create It” -Abraham Lincoln

Will nations stay closed? Will touch become taboo? Will I be going to the office? And most important of all is – What will be the new NORMAL be? These are some of the questions which are running in everyone’s mind right now. No one knows exactly what will come. But this is the time of preparation, preparation for the coming months, or weeks or years.

Companies have been reluctant to allow employees to work from home because of some myths and norms. But pandemic has forced us to work remotely, making it clear just how much work we can get done from home, despite the presence of children. I am very sure post lockdown our employees will resist being pulled back to offices after they have enjoyed the luxury of staying at home.

Post lockdown we might expect staggered shifts, or alternate days coming, in order to maintain social-distancing protocols. Monitoring employee’s health is going to be a ritual and this will be followed religiously. The employers can test employees for COVID -19 as a condition of entering the workplace. To further reduce the spread of the virus employee’s seating plan might shift away from the contemporary to the “hot desk” model. The future of work would require the termination of a biometric attendance system with a contactless attendance system. We can see a big shift in hiring strategies and patterns. The talent demand for remote jobs will increase and people are going to prefer remote jobs. Campus recruitment would move towards e-learning, virtual training, and real-time project experience with the help of experienced leaders. New Virtual on boarding process where video conferencing is taking place and diversified teams are interacting with the new joiner.

A detailed planning activity by various groups with the help of HRs, where we need to identify which employees really need to come to work, even after the lockdown is lifted. Others can continue to work from home. That clarity is important. Moreover, we can see a shift in where the implementation of frequent audit processes to monitor and ensure safe practices. And requirement of special teams for timely and efficient completion of desired work on day to day or weekly basis.

People will still gather for work but there is the biggest cultural shift moving forward- Few of them is handshakes are already replaced by “NAMASTE”. Video conferencing became a new normal.

IT is the need of the hour to work proactively and develop future-facing strategies. We have to face this quarantine state of mind even when the physical quarantine is lifted up, the people will develop agoraphobia sooner or later. The world will change for sure and the COVID 19 Pandemic crisis is enormous, but it also has hope of a new world of technological experimentation and advancements. Welcome to the era of #WFH.
